New Agency Disclosure Law to Assist Consumers
|
PA Act 112 - A new law went into effect November 25, 1999, that affects the way real estate is practiced in Pennsylvania. The "Agency Disclosure" law helps consumers, by stating up front and in writing, who works for whom in a real estate transaction. The law also gives consumers an option for available services. Pennsylvania joins 47 other states in clarifying agency relationships between consumers and real estate practitioners.
The new law is beneficial in that it requires clear and timely disclosure to a consumer at initial contact in the form of a written notice. The notice enables buyers and sellers to make knowledgeable and informative decisions as to how they would like to work with a real estate professional.
